For those not familiar with Provi, here's a list of the major players and sov-holders in the region, as well as the smaller entities that often go unnoticed within the bloc. A quick summary of the history and background of each alliance is provided. If you have more information you'd like to provide about your (or any other) Alliance, please contact me!
On an interesting note, after seeing an older spreadsheet that was tossed around in image format in several Alliance/Corp channels, I've thrown this together as a reference. It shows an interesting set of numbers, in regards to population vs sov and systems.
Sov Holding Entities:
Curatores Veritatis Alliance (CVA)
Formed in the earliest years of EVE as an Amarr-only roleplaying alliance, and the founder of the Provi-bloc coalition. While roleplaying and the Amarr-only requirements have gone by the wayside for the most part, old roleplay slogans and the battle cry of "Amarr Victor" are still often tossed around, not to mention jokes about the rust-buckets and duct tape ships used by the Minmatar.
CVA is the effective head of the Provibloc cooalition, and maintains the KOS-list (Kill on Sight) that determines the Kill/Don't Kill standings used by members of the Coalition, in effect setting the NRDS (Not Red Don't Shoot) policy that makes Providence unique within the nullsec regions of Eve.
At the time of this post, CVA holds the largest amount of systems in Providence with the lowest per-capita inhabitation (meaning they have fewer people per system than any other coalition member).
Silent Infinity (AFK)
Located primarily in the 5-88B9 constellation, AFK is one of the largest (by membership) Alliances holding Sov in Provi, with the highest population density.
The Volition Cult (VOLT)
Formerly based around the I9B-8X constellation (Y-MPWL, etc) VOLT is one of the most militarily active Alliances in Providence, and in membership among the Holders, the largerst. On a typical month VOLT tends to account for more kills (and statistically the most PVP losses due to high activity) in Provi than any other Alliance. At present, while still holding the important Hisec gateway system of Y-MPWL, VOLT primarily inhabits a large portion and several pocket systems in north Catch.
Yulai Federation (YF)
Once based out the the system where it takes its name, Yulai has long held Sov in Providence, as an ally of CVA from before the last fall of Providence, over time moving between constellations as need dictated. Currently YF is based in the P6N8-J constellation and adjacent systems.
Apocalypse Now. (APOC)
APOC holds Sov in 4 systems, with the majority in the HS7W-T constellation, a "Pocket Alliance", of significant size.
Sev3rance (-7-)
-7- and it's leadership have long been allies of CVA throughout the history of the region, and are the most active USTZ alliance active in the region. -7- holds 8 systems
TSOE Consortium (TSOEC)
A pocket alliance controlling 6 systems and the majority of the H-KW4A pocket, TSOE is not known for military ability. Occasionally referred to as "Provi Renters", it is rumored that they operate multiple Capital Ship Assembly Arrays, with the products being available for sale to select Alliances that are (of course) red to Provi. It is not known which side, if any these alleged sales are destined for, if they are in fact occurring.
Care Factor (C.F)
Called by some a pet Alliance of CVA, C.F. holds 3 systems in the western side of the region. By membership numbers it is the smallest sov-holder in the region.
C.F. has ownership of an R64 Moon in G-B22J.
Sanctuary Pact (SCTRY)
Holders of 2 systems, 4B-NQN and 9-F0B2, a moderate sized Alliance in Providence, and one of the newer Holders, being granted sov-holding status just prior to the beginning of 2015.
Gun Fun Alliance (G-F-A)
The most recent Holder Alliance , granted the 5 systems that VOLT relinquished in its move to base out of northern Catch (Greater Providence), G-F-A is a small, but growing Alliance.
Coalition Members NOT Holding Sov:
I won't bore you to death with a bunch of facts about Alliances in Provibloc you've never heard of. There are at least 4 that I can name offhand living in the space owned by the Providence "Holders".
